After jumping on the
Hipstagram bandwagon a few months ago, I starting to follow a few people I didn't actually
know know. Which sounds a bit like stalking, but stay with me here. I discovered a few of these people were also bloggers and I got pretty into their blogs as well as their Instagram feeds. Especially during work hours. The irony of me spending hours on other blogs and neglecting my own for the better part of a year is not lost on me. I love the idea of having a blog and I enjoy writing, but I struggle to commit to posting on a regular basis. I think this is mainly because my job involves sitting in front of a computer all day and sometimes it's the last thing I want to do when I get home at the end of the day. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. I also have a tendency to fill my spare time with events and activities, which is hardly a bad thing - I'd rather be out doing things than writing about them. Which brings me to my next point - photography is always something that I've enjoyed and I've found myself taking a lot of off-hand pictures of things in the last six months whilst I've been out and about doing stuff and things. This has been made especially easy since I got myself a less brick-like cellphone with a half decent camera. I also unfortunately lost the last few years of photos when my house was robbed earlier this year, and because I hadn't uploaded some of them, sadly they were gone forever. And finally I reach my point - all of this rambling is an explanation of the transformation I am going to attempt of this blog for the next year - to embark on a photo a day challenge for the year, and post them here on a weekly basis.
Since returning to New Zealand, I've been inspired by the great photo opportunities I've come across, whether they be the more day to day aspects of life, the pleasures of a sunny day with friends or being able to travel around this beautiful country. I've just returned from a wonderful ten day road trip around the south island and found plenty of opportunities to take some great pictures on the way. I've come to realise that it's unlikely that I can be a be relied upon to be a regular blogger, at least at this point in my life, as evidenced by the fact that my previous post was quite some time ago. Being the new year and all, I've also been reflecting on how much things can change in the space of a year or ten. Life can surprise you in the most unexpected and unpredictable way - which is what makes life so awesome. So I thought this might be an interesting way to document my 2014 and see what exciting changes and opportunities it brings. I will do my best to post once a week with my photos from the previous week. And as you can see I am not off to a great start as I am already a bit behind. But here are the first few days of 2014. Happy new year and all that jazz.
